What The Australian Trade Small Business Champion Awards Are About
The Australian Small Business Champion Awards started in 1999 when it was geared towards uplifting small businesses by recognising some of their most outstanding achievements. The awards, which are run by Precedent Productions, sought to celebrate excellence in small businesses across all territories and states of Australia.
Since 1999, the awards have grown in stature, with small businesses across the country converting the top prizes. In 2023, the Australian Trade Small Business Champion Awards were inaugurated to acknowledge trade businesses that lead and influence their unique sectors.
In 2024, the Australian Trade Small Business Champion Awards were hosted on August 23 in Sydney at The Star. This illustrious event featured hundreds of leading tradespeople from across the country in about 50 sectors, including electricians, carpenters, mechanics, welders, hairdressers, plumbers, painters and many more.
The glamorous award show sought to celebrate and recognise the essential role that these trades play in keeping Australian society functioning and aimed to honour those businesses that demonstrate exceptional hard work and dedication to the highest standards.
The awards, which were independently judged by a panel of experienced trade experts, looked at characteristics such as profitability, growth strategies, environmental consciousness and the level of community support to determine the winners.
Ahead of the awards, when the finalists were announced in June, trade publication Building Connection reported Precedent Productions managing director, award founder and coordinator Steve Loe said that the competition in 2024 was very tight, owing to the high quality of the various applications. He also mentioned that forming the shortlist for these awards was no simple feat for the judges due to the high-quality submissions received this year.
